Joe Manganiello wants spend as much time in the company of bodybuilding idol Arnold Schwarzenegger as possible as he supported him at the launch of Muscle & Fitness Magazine in at Tru Hollywood Nightclub on Wednesday.
Flaunting bulging biceps and a rippling six-pack on the front cover 36-year-old actor Joe has openly spoken about what a gym-spiration his Sabotage co-star has been.
Joe, who starred alongside 66-year-old Arnold Schwazenegger to film Sabotage, a film about a SWAT style task force who become murder targets, has spoken about how much he looks up to the actor, both in the gym and on set.
He previously said in an interview with Mens Health magazine: 'Arnie was a hero to me. He’s the reason why every guy of our generation started going to the gym. To film with him for four months was awesome. And he still trains every morning.'
Arnie even gave the Two And A Half Men actor some tips on how to make bulging biceps appear bigger:
'Arnold came in and said, "I see you’re flexing your biceps. Don’t do that. Keep it loose and with crossed arms put the other hand back to push the muscle forward – you’ll get an extra three inches'
The 36-year-old True Blood hunk obviously looks up to fellow bodybuilder Arnie, gushing of starring alongside the former Governor of California: 'He lives up to every bit of hype that preceded him. He's awesome; the coolest, most charismatic guy'
The actor told Yahoo movies that the training for the film as intense as the training for a real life agent:
'I'd get into power lift at 7 am, workout from 7-8, then go over to do stand-up/ground MMA fighting then ground rounds.'
'We had to fight fresh fighters the whole time, we'd do that for
an hour and a half, shower, get something to eat, then go over to the sheriff's
department to shoot handguns.
'We basically became a SWAT team and learned how to sweep
buildings, to the point of exhaustion and falling asleep while standing.'
